Cloud Native Modernisation Overview \ The new VMware
Irene Grabsdorf
Introduction to VMware Tanzu
10:45 - 11:15
Keynote - Creating and Sustaining a Culture of Innovation
Michael Cote
Creating an innovation-driven culture is difficult and requires deliberate and well managed change to how you operate. Scaling it to a large organization is even harder. You also need the organizational context and norms - the culture - that allows innovation practices and thinking to thrive. Nailing these down, let alone what “culture” even is, can be hard. This talk will define what an innovative culture is and then cover several proven methods for leading culture change. Throughout, we’ll draw from use cases from large organizations that have tackled the challenge of changing to an innovation-driven culture.
11:15 - 12:00
Keynote - Microservices, Container, Kubernetes - Why?
Timo Salm
We are always talking about new exciting technologies and which problems they solve at a higher level!
But do you really know why there is a need for microservices architectures, DevOps, CI/CD, and modern technologies like Kubernetes or containers at all?
I will take you on a journey about how software development processes have evolved over the last decades and how this is related to modern technologies.
12:00 - 12:15

Modern Infrastructure Track

13:00 - 13:50
Tanzu Service Mesh: Close the GAP in a siloed World
Andreas Schillinger & Daniel Stich
With the rise of cloud-native architectures built on distributed microservices, new challenges with visibility, management, and control of these new applications must be considered. We will highlight how Tanzu Service Mesh addresses these from the perspective of networking and application dev.
14:00 - 14:50
Tanzu Data Services PostgreSQL and MySQL on K8s
Sacha Dubois
This demo is intended to demonstrate the capabilities of Tanzu Data Services PostgreSQL and MySQL deployed on Kubernetes. The demo shows the function of the Operator module and should show how to upgrade and scale a cluster
15:00 - 15:50
Using Tanzu Mission Control for Data Protection
Stefan Schmidt
Deployments with Persistent Volumes on Kubernetes have become a popular pattern. But how do you protect the data? We will explore how Tanzu Mission Control Data Protection allows self service backup and even more important recovery of persistent data. This enables a whole new set of possibilities for your Kubernetes workloads.
16:00 - 16:50
Multicluster and Multicloud Demo with TKG and TSM
Mathias Ewald
In this demo, we showcase a common scenario that involves bursting workload seamlessly from onprem K8s clusters into the public cloud. Many of our customers strive for real multi-cloud workloads and are looking for a manageable way to move workloads between platforms. Tanzu Kubernetes Grid in combination with Tanzu Service Mesh can save your day!
17:00 - 17:50
Get your hands dirty with VMware Tanzu
Björn Brundert
During this session, we will show you the various resources that VMware provides to you to start getting a feeling of some of the VMware Tanzu products - independent if you are an existing customer, prospect or just an individual who want’s to know and feel VMware Tanzu!

Application Development Track

13:00 - 13:50
Application Modernization - The Tanzu Way
Marc Zottner
Modernizing applications to cloud-native is integral to stay competitive in a constantly changing landscape. In this session you will learn how at VMware Tanzu Labs, we enable large organisations to start their modernization work small and scale it fast:

- Why our customers modernise their apps (uses cases, outcomes and true benefits)
- How does Tanzu Labs approach App Modernisation work (guiding principles, approach)
- What do we concretely do along wider App Modernisation journeys
14:00 - 14:50
Spring Cloud architecture on TAS, Azure Spring Cloud and Kubernetes
Timo Salm
As companies have moved their workloads to the cloud, we’ve seen a growth in the use of cloud-native architectures, particularly microservices. Microservice-based architectures help improve scalability and velocity but implementing them can pose challenges.
I will show you how Spring Cloud and platforms like VMware Tanzu Application Service, Azure Spring Cloud, and Kubernetes help you mitigate these!
15:00 - 15:50
Cloud-Native Buildpacks: The magic wand to containerize your apps on Kubernetes
Guillaume Morini, Alexandre Roman
Building containers usually comes with a Dockerfile. Not anymore!

Thanks to VMware Tanzu Build Service, building containers for your applications on any Kubernetes is now way easier, leveraging CNCF Buildpacks.
Say goodbye to badly crafted Dockerfiles, embrace containerisation at scale with a secure supply chain!
16:00 - 16:50
Building a ML based application with Spring Cloud Dataflow
Andreas Lange
Why you should talk about Spring Cloud Dataflow (45min)

SCDF is a Microservice based Streaming and Batch data processing Framework for TAS and TKG.

Spring Cloud Data Flow provides tools to create complex topologies for streaming and batch data pipelines. The data pipelines consist of Spring Boot apps, built using the Spring Cloud Stream or Spring Cloud Task microservice frameworks.

Agenda:
- What is Spring and it’s Framework
- Short intro into SCDF
- When to get attention to Spring Cloud Dataflow while talking to your customers
- Use Cases for SCDF
- Integrating Machine Learning into you Data Pipelines
- Demo
- Q&A
17:00 - 17:50 Tanzu Observability - Actionable Information at your fingertips from Applications to Infrastructure
Lutz Lange
Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications pose a new challenge for infrastructure and development teams. Classic monitoring tools fail to capture relevant data in a timely fashion. Disconnected tools make it very difficult to follow up on issues through the whole stack as data and tool know-how is captured in slios. This is where observability tools shine. We take a look at the Why and How of Tanzu Observability in this session, to solve these needs.
