Michiel Shortt.jpg
Michiel Shortt, Data Scientist at A42 Labs
Michiel is a Data Scientist with a strong background in optimization and applications of advanced mathematical algorithms. Interested in the limits of computing since a teenager, he has had a lifelong interest in the mathematics behind computer science, in particular AI and machine learning.
His professional experience includes software development and the application of machine learning and optimization algorithms to diverse business problems, especially in the fields of industrial engineering and logistics.
Ekta Khanna.jpg
Ekta Khanna, Sr. Member of Technical Staff at VMware
Ekta has been with Greenplum since 2017. She has contributed to Greenplum's query optimization engine(ORCA and planner) and MADlib, machine learning library for scalable in-database analytics on Greenplum. She is passionate about working with largescale data and transforming raw data into useful information that can help customers make better data driven decisions.
Domino Valdano.png
Domino Valdano, Principal Software Engineer at VMware
Domino helped design and implement the Deep Learning module of MADlib, an Apache Top Level Project. With a background in Computer Engineering and Theoretical Physics, she has over 20 years of experience as a professional software engineer, and is the author of 5 publications in peer reviewed scientific journals. At VMware, she continues to improve Apache MADlib, currently serving as agile anchor for the Tanzu Greenplum Advanced Analytics team.
Radar Lei.jpg
Radar Lei, Senior Product Manager at VMware
Radar is the product manager for GPText team at VMware Tanzu R&D.
He is committed to building an advanced, easy-to-use, end-to-end in-database text analysis system.
He is also a fan of the open source community, becomes Apache committer and PMC member since 2015.
Prior to joining VMware, he worked as a senior software developer at Teradata.
Nikhil Kak.jpg
Nikhil Kak, Sr. Member Technical Staff at VMware
Nikhil Kak joined in Sept 2015 and has been working on Greenplum ever since. He worked with the Greenplum Advanced Analytics team for around 2.5 years where he worked on adding deep learning(using GPUs) support to their open source machine learning product Apache MADlib. He currently works for the Greenplum for Kubernetes team and understands how easy Kubernetes makes it to run analytics and data science workflows using MADlib and other Greenplum components.
Kris Blahnik.jpeg
Kris Blahnik, Marketing Product Owner – Customer Engagement Platform Digital Identity and Insights at Dell
Kris operates in the fuzzy space among data science, data & platform management, solution architecture, and business strategy for insight-driven outcomes. His career at Dell has meandered through direct sales & ops, outsource partner management, omni-channel demand generation, marketing automation, and developing & deploying Dell’s customer data platform – across all of which common passions of “scalable architecture!” and “build capabilities, not use cases!” have enabled his success [in automating himself out of his roles]. Currently, he is focused on delivering business outcomes through innovative Greenplum solutions: reducing the resource and time cost of traditional enterprise processes through dynamic-SQL ETL toolkits; removing data transport bottlenecks and diversifying storage strategy by leveraging PXF; enhancing the scope and accuracy of the customer device/identity graph through MADlib; optimizing digital engagement & contact strategy through customer journey modeling.
Ivan Novick.jpeg
Ivan Novick, Greenplum Product Lead at VMware
Ivan has been working on big data, databases, and enterprise systems since 2002. He spent 5 years in the financial industry building trading systems; worked at Yahoo on the data warehouse system before Hadoop was created; hacked on a MySQL storage engine for a year and has spent the last 7 years in various capacities working on the Pivotal Greenplum product. Ivan’s passion is building next-generation data platforms. In his free time, he has also been a beginning yoga student for the last 10 years. Born and raised in NYC Ivan is now is enjoying the California lifestyle where has resided since 2006.
